Data Expiry on GST Portal: From October 1, 2023, data older than seven years on the GST portal will be deleted. This means that any return data older than September 2017 will no longer be available on the portal.
Monthly Data Archiving: The process of archiving data started in August 2023, beginning with returns from July 2017. On October 1, data for September 2017 will be removed, and so on, every month.
Need for Data Backup: Taxpayers are advised to download and archive any old GST return data they may need, as it will not be retrievable after seven years.
Legal Rule Under Section 39 (11) of CGST Act: As of October 1, 2023, taxpayers cannot file GST returns if more than three years have passed since the due date of the return.
Action for Traders: To avoid losing access to important data, traders should download their GST return information from the portal before it gets removed.
