Iron Trader Arrested in ₹26 Crore GST Input Tax Credit Scam

1. Trader Arrested in Major GST Fraud

A 32-year-old iron trader, Aman Agarwal, from Raipur, has been arrested by the State GST department.


He is accused of orchestrating a large-scale tax fraud involving fake Input Tax Credit (ITC) claims.


2. Fraud Through Fake Companies

The fraud was conducted using a network of bogus firms from 2023 to 2025.


These ghost companies were used to show fictitious buying and selling of goods.


The total fake transactions were worth ₹262 crore, as per authorities.


3. Illegally Claimed Input Tax Credit

Aman Agarwal reportedly availed ₹26 crore in Input Tax Credit (ITC).


The ITC was claimed on non-existent purchases, violating GST laws.


4. Revenue Loss to Government

This fraudulent activity led to a loss of ₹26 crore to the government exchequer.


The scam impacted the Chhattisgarh State GST Department severely.


5. Official Statements and Legal Action

Narendra Verma, Joint Commissioner, confirmed the details of the fraudulent operations.


T L Dhruv, Special Commissioner of Chhattisgarh GST, stated that a challan will be presented in court, and the matter is under further investigation.
