Nationwide GST Data Scam Exposed: Traders’ Sensitive Info Sold Online by ‘Data Solution’ Gang

1. What Happened?

A nationwide scam involving the illegal sale of traders’ GST data has been uncovered.


The gang, named ‘Data Solution’, operates mainly from Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Noida.


Sensitive GST details, including GSTR-1, 2B, 3B, and e-Way Bill data, are being sold in packages.


2. How is the Data Being Sold?

GSTR-1 data is priced at ₹8,000–10,000.


Bundled data (2B, 3B, e-Way Bills) costs ₹15,000 for three months.


Likely sold on dark web forums or private networks to fraudsters and tax evaders.


3. Who Exposed the Scam?

The Surat Chartered Accountants Association wrote to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman demanding action.


Raises concerns over GST system vulnerabilities and data security breaches.


4. Why is This Serious?

Privacy & Fraud Risks: Misuse of GST data can lead to fake invoices, tax evasion, and financial fraud.


Systemic Weakness: Indicates possible hacking or insider leaks in the GSTN (GST Network).


Loss of Trust: Businesses may lose faith in the GST portal’s security.

Government & GST Council must investigate the data leak source.


Stronger cybersecurity measures needed for the GST portal.
